These from the meadow butter cookies ('verweij' translates to 'from the meadow and 'roomboter' means 'churned butter'), are perfect for your fika!  These popular Dutch cookies are a wonderful combination of two waffle-like cookies with a chewy caramel syrup center. 

Want to make that caramel just a bit chewier?  Are you a 'dunker'?  Then have fun with your Siroopwafels by placing them over your cup of coffee to soften up before dunking!

Thought to have originated near the Dutch city of Gouda sometime in the 19th century, Stroopwafels are still widely enjoyed today.
