In the very first book about Pippi Longstocking, the strongest and kindest and funniest and richest girl in the whole world, she lives all alone in Villa Villekulla with her horse and her monkey Herr Nilsson.  Herr Nilsson was gifted to Pippi by her father and sleeps next to her in a doll bead.  How fun would it be to make up some imaginative stories with these two characters?!
