Butticki was started by two sisters, Britt-Marie Lernhammar (Butti) and Ann-Marie Wieveg (Kicki) in 1984 and is now a three generation family business. The Butticki name is a combination of the sisters' nicknames.

Butticki's basic concept has always been to manufacture high-quality handmade products. All manufacturing takes place in Sweden. After over 25 years of production, today many of Butticki's 'dolls' have become collectors' items.
