Tove Jansson was a successful Swedish-speaking writer, artist, and cartoonist from Finland. She was most known for her comic strips and series of children’s books featuring the hippopotamus-like Moomin characters. In addition to the Moomin books, Tove wrote 12 novels and short stories during her career for both children and adults. She received the Hans Christian Andersen Medal in 1996 for her contribution as a children’s writer.
