Fruit was one of the earliest designs William Morris made for Morris & Co. You can see this in the flat treatment of the branches and leaves, giving it an artful simplicity. Fruit or ‘Pomegranate’ (its other name at the time) was chosen as the wallpaper in Jane Morris’ bedroom at Kelmscott House, where she lived with Morris in Hammersmith, London.
William Morris was an influential designer & poet from Victorian England. His patterns are known for their nature-inspired motifs, intricate details, and flowing forms. By weaving Morris' patterns, Ekelund embraces a part of the English tradition and blends it with their Swedish heritage, creating a bridge between the past and the future, and between the English and Swedish landscapes.
