This limited edition was so popular after its first release that it has been reintroduced in new, bold, vibrant colors!
The original blanket was designed to commemorates a Swedish Royal Visit to The American Swedish Institute by Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia on October 6, 2012.
First generation Swedish American artist, Laurie Jacobi, found inspiration for the blanket design from motifs found in the workshop of beloved Swedish painter and interior designer, Carl Larsson, and his wife Karin. Her intention was to create a fresh, contemporary, royal design that celebrates the American Swedish Institute with stylized images reminiscent of the folk tradition of wood carving.
The limited edition blanket was woven by the Faribault Woolen Mill Company, a Minnesota company.

ASI friend, and former board member, Lauri Jacobi moved to the woods of northern Minnesota in the late 1980s after leaving the business world. Surrounded by nature, she was inspired to create jewelry and wall hangings out of birch bark, porcupine quills, feathers, stones, beads and Japanese paper, then blankets.
Lauri's business partner Mary Jane had also left the business world and began sewing Lauri's blankets into garments. Laurie Jacobi the brand then became an unintentional, and successful, business.
Celebrating their shared Scandinavian heritages, they found a common ground through textiles and Laurie Jacobi the brand has been a successful business since.
Laurie and Mary Jane have done trunk shows around the country and had exhibits in Chicago, Seattle, Minneapolis, Sweden, Finland, Kazakhstan and the Swedish Embassy in Washington DC.
Nestled along the Cannon River in Minnesota, Faribault Mill endures as one of the last vertical woolen mills in America. Faribault has been making blankets since 1872.
