Sagor från Mumindalen is an optional purchase for ASI's Star Reading Swedish Class where students read and discuss the Mumin story Vägen till Mumindalen (from the book “Sagor från Mumindalen”) and participate in activities that support reading and vocabulary building.

Come along to Tove Jansson's Moomin Valley, where almost anything can happen: A father can be washed away in a flood, hat nights appear on a desert island and a hat with magical properties spreads danger and enchantment. At the center of the events is a round blue house and its inhabitants: the motley Moomin family.

In this collection of fairy tales, a new audience in three independent stories gets to know the Moomin role. In The Great Flood, we find out how the Moomin family came to the Moomin Valley for the first time after a arduous journey through the flooded forest. In Hattifnattarna's island, the family's sailing excursion takes an unexpected turn when they suddenly come face to face with hundreds of Hattifnattar. And in The Magic Hat, a found hat is made with all sorts of clutter in the Moomin House, while an unhappy magician wanders around bareheaded on the moon.  The stories are all characterized by the peculiar language and magical world of images that we recognize from Tove Jansson's beloved Moomin books.

The stories are based on episodes from Tove Jansson's chapter books The Little Troll and the Great Flood and The Wizard's Hat. They are retold for the picture book format by the authors Alex Haridi and Cecilia Davidsson and illustrated by Cecilia Heikkilä.
