Lake Mälaren is located just west of Stockholm. The name of this tray is “Mälardrottning”, which translates to 'Queen of Mälaren" ~ who is said to be a symbol of Stockholm.
The design of this tray is from an authentic travel poster advertising Stockholm which celebrated 700 years in 1952. However, the Olympics were held in Helsinki that year and the cities didn’t want to compete for tourism, so Stockholm decided to celebrate the jubilee a year later instead in 1953. And for the jubilee, this was the poster design. The design was by Curt Blixt.
A great decorative touch whether propped up on a stand, placed on a table as part of your smörgåsbord, or used as a place to hold you wallet, jewelry and keys. Makes a great gift!
