Martin Widmark was born in 1961 and lives in southern Stockholm. As a children's book author, he is above all known for the book series LasseMaja's Detektivbyrå . Martin Widmark's books have been translated into nearly forty languages ​​and have sold over 12 million copies, of which roughly 5 million were sold ex abroad. Ever since 2008, he has topped the list of the most borrowed authors, and he has come first in the Book Jury every year since 2004.

Martin Widmark is a trained middle school teacher and has worked for ten years in the Stockholm suburb of Rinkeby. He has also worked with Swedish for immigrants.

In 2000, Martin Widmark wrote his first book, To catch a tiger , illustrated by Joakim Lindengren. Since then, he has written over a hundred books - everything from picture books, chapter books to youth books and teaching aids. The book series LasseMaja's Detective Agency , which began with the Diamond Mystery in 2002, is his greatest success. The series about LasseMaja's Detective Agency has been filmed as a Christmas calendar in SVT, six feature films and most recently as a series on Cmore and TV4.
