The Wolf (Varg) was claimed extinct in Sweden in 1960. In 1980 the Wolf made a return to Sweden Migrating from a Russia-Finland population to Värmland in Southern Sweden. The Swedish Wolf now numbers around 250. This one technically does not count, buy by taking one in maybe you can show some support, and have a bit of 'wild' Sweden in your space.
Inkku Tamma animals are unique, one-of-a-kind pieces, no two are alike because they are handcrafted. Due to the handmade nature of these products, there will be variations and slight 'imperfections' (we call those beauty marks), which adds to the specialness of each piece.
We love that these animals look great individually, or paired with other animals and trees.
Inkku Tamma animals are made of local Swedish Pine (and sometimes Spruce).
Additional accent materials are 100% natural (ratan, horse hair, and leather). Each piece is painted with (dilluted water), creating the beautiful finishing touches.
Approximate Size: 5 x 5 x 1.5 inches (height x length x width)
Inkku Tamma is Johan Malmström, who is also known as "Jönne" ~ which is what you will see handwritten on the bottom of every Inkku Tamma piece. Jönne lives in the northernmost part of Sweden, close to the border of Finland, in the village of Pajala (home to about 2000 inhabitants). Jönne worked as a teacher, partly in handicraft (wood and metal), and over the last 15 years has exclusively focused in Inkku Tamma.
Jönne is a one-man operation, designing and making all of his pieces by himself!
Interesting fact ~ Jönne lives in a house that was once a station for filtering water from the Torne River into drinking water, his home is surrounded by forests and wetlands (which may seem very familiar to many Minnesotans!).
