Everyone needs a Tomte to watch over their home.  Tomtar are the Swedish equivalent of gnomes.   Originating in Nordic folklore, Tomtar were seen as protectors of farms, usually keeping busy with their watch at night.

This Tomte Boy is perfect for decorating your tree, hanging in your window or from your mantle, or anywhere you see fit. These felt ornaments are hand stitched and adorned with beautiful detailed ribbon. Made by ASI friend, and volunteer, Chris Lane.

*Note: There is often variation in the felt colors (for example the hats, or mittens, etc. ~ your item may have slight variation from the image pictured).

Christine Lane has volunteered at ASI since 2013.
Chris grew up in St. Paul, graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and taught elementary school for 38 years.

During her many hours at ASI, Chris started a cottage industry that has encouraged her creativity and kept her hands busy year-round. She hand-stitches felt Christmas ornaments — tomtar, julboks, Santa Lucias, Dala horses, hearts and more. If you have seen Chris volunteering at ASI, you have likely seen her busy hands stitching away creating these wonderful and unique ornaments! We are lucky to have Chris as part of the ASI Community.
